Hi everyone,

Just found this site looking for someone.  I have not gone--I've lived in the Orland Park, Il area since 1964.  My undergrad degree is from the U.of I. Urbana and my masters from Governors State University.  I taught school right out of college but have been a Realtor since 1973.  I've been married to my second husband Richard for 22 years--we have 4 children and 10 grandchildren between us.  I'd love to hear from Mary O'Grady McGinnis and Sue Seegren Bohn if you read this.

I hope our classmates are still checking in at our website.  I just viewed the video DVD from our reunion and I hope you all ordered it.  It was wonderful.  I got to see several people I did not have a chance to visit with.  Hope you still have great memories of the reunion and we will be planning another one in 5 years.  Hang in there.

I don't have enough words to express what a wonderful job that the reunion committee did.  It certainly culminated in a wonderful weekend. We all seemed to recognize each other despite 50 years having gone by. Those years melted away the evening of the big event. I wish there had been a lot more time to visit with everyone and ask all of the questions I thought of later. Hope more of us  can keep in touch now that we have reconnected. Thanks for the memories to all who were there on October 2.

So .... the crazy election days are over and there is snow in the air here in the UP of Michigan. It is not a good day to bird hunt with the dog BUT a great day for remembering a fantastic 50th reunion AND also share photos of the big event.  Thanks to the able assistance of photographer - and more computer savvy then I - wife Donna, I've just completed uploading reunion pics to the 'Other' of the reunion website 'Photo Albums'.  Any errors are mine: ie. sideways photo, etc.  and  - to Bob Ingersoll:  Sorry Bob. I know that Joy is a Joy (who we know she is) not Jan but once the fingers typed that mistake we couldn't figure how to edit it !)  Hope folks enjoy the pics - as well as those previously posted  - and that others will continue to add theirs as well.

ONCE AGAIN:  A big thanks to all who worked on/with the committees to make this reunion a reality.

Like all of you, I had a wonderful time. I wish that Saturday evening had lasted another eight hours. One of my most vivid memories is walking into Roundy's on Feb 3, 1959 at 7:30 a.m. A radio broadcast was announcing the death of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper in an Iowa cornfield plane crash.  -- Barry Felcher

Well, I miss seeing everyone at that fabulous three days in Lincolnshire!  I had the best time that I have had in years.  It was wonderful, marvelous, and filled with emotion.  I won't forget it for a long time and am looking forward to the 55th.  The planning committe did an absolutely perfect job.  We were like one big happy family and all the years that have passed, just melted away.  Thank you!!   Jo Ann

After going on the website this morning to see if there were any photos/comments from the reunion, I am SO sorry that I missed it last week-end!  (I was in Oregon.)   WOW!  And photos there were!  I wish that ALL the pictures had names to identify who they were!  Fifty years is not a good time to start "guessing"!  It looks like everyone had a great time!  Thank you to the committee for the fabulous job you did in organizing the 50th!!  Five years is not that far away to start planning the 55th!!

My brother Bruce (Class of 1962) passed away in May of 2009.  I was going through some of his things  yesterday and came upon his 1960 yearbook.....our yearbook!  Mine, I would guess, is buried somewhere in my attic!  Looking at the yearbook for some 3 hours last night and then going on the wesite this morning,  it seems "just like yesterday" that we were friends and classmates.  I  looked at the pictures and could put a name to the face.  I am not so sure I could have done that at the reunion however!! :)

I would love to hear from anyone.....gayleoleary@verizon.net.  Looking forward to renewing friendships at the 55th!!

Gayle

A week has gone by and I'm still smiling about our 50th Reunion.  All the time that went into planning the Reunion was so worth it when we saw everyone laughing and enjoying being together.  What a great time we had sharing this very special time together.  Apparently, though, we needed another day or two since we weren't finished talking!

It was such a fantastic reunion, and I had the privilege of being on the Planning Committee. Everyone worked very hard to make this event the best it could be.  So saddened by the classmates we have lost, and wish more could have been part of this incredible event.I, for one, am ready to help anytime another reunion is planned.  I think the sooner, the better.Karen Brodsky Winkelmann

We have nothing but wonderfully positive feelings after the reunion.  It was absolutely enjoyable and we loved reconnecting with so many of our classmates. We cannot express how sad we feel for those who weren't able to attend. They truly missed a friendly, family event.   Kudos to the planning committee for perfect planning!  Harry and Beverly Taxin

Hi Everyone, and especially the Planning Committee. Jay (Doniger  Class of '59) my husband,  and I came home after a most enjoyable  evening of meeting and reconnecting with "old friends."  It was great seeing "young faces" from the past. (The pictures on the name tags really helped!) To all of our credit,  we're of great bunch of 68 year olds! May we all stay well, and enjoy another happening together!  Kudos to the Planning Committee for planning this WONDERFUL evening for us. Marcia Braverman Doniger

Calling all walkers, hikers, nature lovers -  I'm interested in organizing a walk in the woods while the golfers are golfing, weather permitting. I see we are going to be near a conservation area - Ryerson preserve. There should be beautiful fall foliage. Anyone interested? If Saturday doesn't work out, maybe Sunday. Find me at the Friday night get-together if you are interested.

Just a note to say I am looking forward to our reunion and to thank all the people who are working on the planning committee.
I saw the note from Keith on the 1961 committee and sent him updated information on my sister who is in that class. She and her family are also here in Houston.
We are planning on making this a family trip for our kids and four grandkids, who have never seen the  Chicago area, where their "Oma"
grew up and went to school.
We are so looking forward to seeing everyone and 186 may not sound like a big number attending, but it is huge when compared to my husband's small town Texas class
 of 29.
I know we will all have a great time renewing old friendships and making new ones.

Lets make the most of the Reunion! It sounds like it is going to be GREAT. Some are flying/driving in early to meet up. Others are having mini reunions for their grammar school.

I live in Manhattan and there are just a very few Niles graduates living  here. One person who couldn't make it and she'd love to reconnect is Rita Rubenstein King. She has and is presently doing alot with the United Nations.

We applaud all the hard work the Planning Committee has and will continue to do for our event! Thank you.

I do hope there are others out there like me who want there to be even more reunions in the future     :-)    PennyJohnson@gmail.com

I'm planning on coming to the reunion with my husband Richard Williams. We live in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Our 5 beautiful daughters and 9 grandchildren are spread from California to Louisiana, but I'm lucky enough to have 2 of them and 4 grandchildren in Albuquerque.  I earned my MA at Univ. of NM, retired as a government administrator, and now sell real estate in the Land of Enchantment.  Come visit us.    I hope to recognize you at the reunion.  Has anyone found my best buddy from Niles, Fern Gilbert?

As a member of the planning committee, I am so looking forward to attending our 50th reunion.  We have put in a lot of time and effort in finding missing classmates.  I too am disappointed in our attendance but grateful to those who wish to attend.  We will have a great time.

As far as the Jewish holiday, we have members on our committee who are Jewish and helped choose the dates for the reunion after reviewing holidays.  We are sorry we are offending a few but apparently many are still attending.

I am on the committee for the class of '61 reunion which will occur next year. I see with all the work your class of '60 committee has put in you can only muster 186 of your classmates to commit to attending. Our class already has 225 classmates committed and we have over a year to go. Come on '60 get off the Schneid.

I have been literally away from Niles Township for many years, living for 15 years in Sweden and now down in Mississippi.  In general I have not had contact with people from 1960 class, but it will be fun for my wife and me to attend.  Age has changed most of us, and hopefully wisdom has replaced missing and graying hair.  I was skin and bones while a high school student, but my daily workouts with weights have changed that.  See ya in Lincolnshire.
